Village Support Network, previously called Rockville Area Villages Exchange (RAVE), is a vibrant nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that helps developing and newly formed Villages in Montgomery County, Maryland and the surrounding areas become mature, successful, self-sustaining Villages. We secure public and private funding to provide an array of resources and customized support to the Villages that we assist.

What is a Village?

Villages are local, volunteer-led organizations that support community members by fostering social connections through activities, events, and the coordination of volunteers using a neighbor-to-neighbor model. While no two Villages are alike, services may include transportation to medical appointments, light yard work, home maintenance, tutoring, friendly visits, social outings, and more.

"The Village Support Network has been invaluable in their help getting us started, and then providing ongoing support, in the formation of the Wootton's Mill Village in Rockville, Maryland. What started out as an idea among some of our neighbors has turned into a growing Village organization appreciated by long-term and newer residents in our community. This would not have happened without the advice, financial assistance, collateral items and encouragement of the staff of the Village Support Network."

Judy Stern, Village Leader
